The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing educational guidance and assistance for students by The Employment Specialist is responsible for conducting B2B sales, public relations, marketing and recruiting to link businesses with potential resources and qualified candidates. This will position promotes and develops employment and on-the-job training opportunities for OIC participants. Demonstrates to employers the effectiveness and profitability of employing unemployed, underemployed as well as individuals that have less than desirable backgrounds by identifying jobs that workers can perform in.
Note: The candidate hired for this position must be able to pass a level 2 Background Check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interviews, advises, and guides a diverse population of Participants to ascertain employability; interprets and explains regulations, rules, policies, and procedures to Participant; may determine client eligibility for services; apprises Participants of their rights, benefits, responsibilities, and obligations under program participation.
Assesses client's education, work experience, skills, abilities, qualifications, and job interest; assesses client readiness for job referral, on-the-job training, and/or support services; match clients with available employment, training, or other opportunities/services.
Analyzes information obtained from interviews, tests, and other sources (LSCMI, BESI, ONET and Career Lattice) to develop short-and long-term client goals; develops and implements individual employment plans; ensures client conformance with program rules and regulations, department policies, and employment plans.
Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic and social groups.
Contacts public and private employers in order to develop on-the-job training and/or direct job placement sites for participants; maintains cooperative relationships with employers, and support service and community resource agencies; identifies appropriate job placement/training opportunities for Participants; maintains an awareness of local job market, LMI and opportunities to assist in
Providing guidance to clients; may arrange for employment interviews, attend job fairs, conduct special workshops, presentations, group orientations, or perform other training and outreach activities
Outstanding organizational, follow-up, follow-through and listening skills are essential, along with the ability to gather the information necessary to qualify a business as a key target placement area for client graduates
Monitors and evaluates Participant's progress through program components; monitors service providers through reports and site visits; resolves any problems or provides guidance and counseling; may make phone calls or conduct field visits to investigate participants' progress in various programs designed to assist clients in preparing for and obtaining employment.
Inputs necessary information into automated system(s); organizes cases; maintains and updates records on client employment, training, and follow-up activities; takes required action(s) established by regulations and/or department policy; prepares reports on client and program activities; and participates in training, pilot and other special projects, committees, and studies.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in field related to the provision of employment services.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in workforce development, recruiting, business development, marketing or any combination of training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties as described.
Experience working with at-risk populations, including but not limited to unemployed, underemployed and individuals with less than desirable backgrounds preferred.
Experience with working with young adults
A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Demonstrated experience working with individuals who have been involved with the justice system
Ability to maintain professional relationships with other team members, training personnel, community providers and corporate partners
Proven familiarity with the juvenile and adult re-entry landscape in both Broward & Miami-Dade County
Proven familiarity with community support service organizations in Broward & Miami-Dade County
Proven ability to prepare federal grant reports and other correspondence required by funder
Demonstrated experience facilitating presentations on career placement and job development
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Must maintain valid DL and insurance coverage on personal vehicle at all times during employment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position. Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently preferred.
Performing the duties of this position requires the ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, speak and hear as well as the ability to lift presentation materials, including marketing equipment.
Will be providing services inside Florida State Correctional Facilities, so must be able to pass a level-2 background check
