Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications and Media Relations and serving as a leader on the Communications and Marketing team, the Editorial Director is responsible for strategic management and implementation of editorial content with focus on the Caribbean Diaspora. Overseeing Caribbean Network media relations, website production, social media and video, the director serves as the gatekeeper/content distributor of the network’s news center's voice and tone and ensures these platforms consistently represent the Caribbean Times Online's mission to provide the best possible news publication experience.
Oversees all editorial initiatives, including multiple website properties, social media channels and video. Supervises strategy content relay, writing and execution of timely and compelling content, including maintenance of the editorial calendar, management of web workflow and social media schedule, and administering updates to the style guide. Directly supervises Associate Director for Interactive Media, Web Content Manager and Temporary Web Producer.
Manages both proactive and reactive media relations on behalf of Caribbean-Times, including Caribbean islands press outlets like The Daily Nation (Barbados) Jamaica Gleaner, Trinidad Express and The Guyanese Chronicle and The Royal Gazette. With guidance from the Vice President of the Caribbean Times, coordinates responses with senior staff and partners with Caribbean colleagues to develop a thoughtful response to every press inquiry. Writes daily media report and pitches external press on new initiatives emerging from the Caribbean Times Online News Network and its Caribbean American partners.
Serves as primary writer for press releases, news stories, event write-ups and media advisories. Copy edits communications collateral to ensure consistent voice and tone. Advises Caribbean Times staff and corporate partners on best practice guidelines and implements cross-functional improvements to existing editorial standards. When appropriate, conducts fact-checking for Caribbean Times International Network leadership and assists with preparation, editing and production of various communications, including communications from PVTMobile.com, late breaking developments, and other types of internal and external communications.
Together with Executive Director of Communications and Media Relations and Director of Marketing Strategy, serves as a member of the On-Call and Emergency Response team and provides leadership in the maneuvering communications related to significant and/or disruptive events. Creates and distributes talking points to assist with crisis mitigation.
Contributes ideas and works with Office of the CEO of Foster's Economical Services 1992 Co. Inc. to develop ways in which to use communications data and analytics to measure results and guide future content creation and distribution.
Serves on communications-related committees.Perform other related duties as assigned.
