JOB OVERVIEW
The Production Operator is responsible for multiple functions within the Lotus Natural Pet Food Plant. One for the operation of a variety of Lotus Natural Pet Foods manufacturing equipment. Two for the maintenance of a variety of Lotus Natural Pet Foods equipment, and three for the basic repairs/fixes of Lotus Natural Pet Foods equipment. The Junior Mechanic is a support role for several areas of manufacturing, including but not limited to; the Production Department, the Labeling/Packaging Department, the Maintenance/Sanitation Department, and the Raw Meats Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Production:
• Set up, operate, adjust, and shut down filling machinery
• Set up, operate, adjust, and shut down can seaming machinery
• Perform changeovers on machinery when necessary
• Set up, operate, adjust, shut down raw meat machinery to include:
a. Rietz Meat Breaker
b. FPEC Auger Conveyor
c. Grinder
d. FPEC Mixer
e. Benshaw Emulsifier
f. Urschel Shredder
g. FPEC Mega Mixer
• Maintains machinery by oiling, greasing machines and changing worn parts according to the maintenance program or when necessary.
• Tracks parts inventory and communicates out of stock parts to the Maintenance Mechanic.
• Maintains a safe, healthy, and sanitary work environment by following GMP standards and procedures.
• Comply with all company Quality, HACCP, GMP and Food Safety Standards.
• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
• Operate pallet jacks/forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Identify and communicate problems and production issues in a timely manner
• Interpret and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

Labeling/Packaging:
• Inspects packaging line processing equipment and verifies operational status and cleanliness.
• Set up, operate, adjust, and shut down packaging line machinery to include:
a. Burt Horizontal Roll Through Label Machine
b. Staban Tray Packaging Machine
c. Markem Image Date Code Printer
d. Tray Turner
e. Staban Shrink Tunnel Machine
f. Cousins Pallet Wrap Machine
g. Line Conveyor Settings
• Maintains machinery by oiling, greasing machines and changing worn parts according to the maintenance program or when necessary.

SCOPE DATA
• This position will ensure that the equipment and facilities in all Production areas are properly oiled, greased and reassembled and production ready
• This position will ensure personal safety and provide protection and safeguarding of all company issued equipment and machinery used in daily operations
• Carries out all responsibilities in accordance with Lotus policies, procedures and applicable laws

WORKING RELATIONSHIP
• Must have an attention to detail methodology
• Must perform in a high volume, extremely fast paced environment and be accurate to perfection
• Though reporting to a Production Supervisor, individual should be able to work independently upon task assignment
• Must be able to work seamlessly with others on an in-line production team
• Cross train into other production areas as required and defined by the Production Manager

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Basic computer skills to operate computer automated equipment
• Basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply and divide
• Read and interpret all weights of measurement
• Excellent interpersonal skills – must be a team player
• Must have an excellent work ethic and be a self-starter
• Must be able to identify CCP’s (Critical Control Points) in the Packaging area and maintain all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Ability to lift to 75 pounds
• Must be able to stand, sit, bend and kneel for extended periods of time
• Understanding of basic hand tools, power tools, and shop tools.

EXPERIENCE
• Basic knowledge or understanding of a manufacturing environment – direct manufacturing
experience not necessary.
• Machinery/mechanical background and knowledge preferred.
• Basic electrical and pneumatic knowledge preferred.
• Prior forklift experience preferred, but not mandatory.
• Prior food manufacturing, compounding, blending, cooking and preparation, labeling and packaging experience is
preferred, but not mandatory.

EDUCATION
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required

Compensation: $15 to $19 an hour
