To provide diagnostic ultrasound services in a clinical setting, to include abdominal, GYN, and vascular superficial structures, along with occasional muscular skeletal exams.
Before beginning the imaging process, the ultrasound technician first explains the procedure to the patient and takes a medical history. The ultrasound technician must then select the appropriate equipment for taking the images and move the patient into the necessary position. The ultrasound technician must also determine whether or not the images are good enough for the physician to make a diagnosis before completing the imaging session.
Exhibits the ability to analyze the examination for completeness and to gather additional patient information or images beyond that called for by standard protocols when necessary. Ensure adequate history appropriately and communicate with the Radiologist
Demonstrates the ability to use problem-solving skills to reach independent decisions.
Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds unaided using proper body mechanics.
The technician discusses any urgent exams with the radiologist before the patient leaves the facility.
Graduate of accredited School of Ultrasound
At least one-year previous experience
Current State License in Sonography required for all employees who perform this job in the State of Oregon
Vascular Technologist RVT (VT) certification preferred. ARDMS certified (AB,OB/GYN) also Skeletal Muscular preferred
Oregon Board of Medical Imaging License for positions assigned in Oregon (OBMI)
BLS/CPR Certification: Personnel providing direct care in patient care and diagnostic areas are required to acquire and maintain BLS/CPR certification.
